Meet the team

Michael Ebejer

Director – Elynwood

Founder and sole Director of Elynwood Services since February 1992. Since commencing the operation, he is proud of the fact that he has retained his first client to this date.

He has developed the company from a key focus in the manufacturing industry to a provider of all industry sectors. More recently, he has been pleased with the endeavors accomplished in gaining a significant segment of the education sector with the State Education Department of Victoria.

His Vision is to be an industry leader in all aspects of outstanding customer service delivery extending to facilities services. Being a contributor to the community, this will always be his key focus. He encourages every individual at Elynwood Services and having received the Prime Ministers Award in 2006, is also a recognition of the quality of the team he had the pleasure of leading.

Jo Spiteri

Director – Catering and Support Services

Jo has been involved in the hospitality industry for approximately 30 years. With Tertiary qualifications in Business Management and also a qualified Chef, Jo shares a passion for people as well as food and nutrition.

Jo established the Catering Division at Elynwood Services and was instrumental in the development of its policies and procedures, as well as developing the hands-on knowledge required to train team members. Jo prepares and supervises the transitional plans for new projects and brings to Elynwood Services a wealth of operational knowledge, client relationship-building skills, and field training experience.

Melinda Tanti

Catering Services Support Manager

Melinda has been in the hospitality industry for approximately 25 years. She started her career as a Chef in various restaurants and later in the Retirement Village sector where she progressed into overseeing the dietary requirements of residents for some very well-known Aged care service providers.

Melinda has been with Elynwood Services since 2008 but left in 2012 to start her family. She has recently returned to full-time employment with our company as Catering Services Support Manager to provide another level of support to our management team. Her passion, integrity, and hands-on approach allow Elynwood Services to continue to grow and further build strong relationships with confidence.

A Humble Beginning

Elynwood Services has a rich history that began with humble origins. Founded by Michael Ebejer and his sister, Jo Spiteri in the late 1980s, this family-owned Australian business was established with the intention of creating a unique and impactful enterprise that catered to niche markets such as the Education Sector and Retirement Living.

Over the years, Elynwood Services has continued to grow and evolve, expanding its capabilities and experience to become a diverse and multi-faceted business that offers tailor-made solutions to its clients. The organisation has achieved financial stability and profitability by providing clients with value-added services while managing its cost base effectively.

At Elynwood Services, we believe in transparent communication with our clients, which is why we maintain frequent and open communication channels. Our people are at the heart of our business, and we recognise that their contributions are essential to our ongoing success.

To mitigate human failings, Elynwood Services has implemented a range of risk management strategies and guidelines for conflict resolution. These measures help us detect issues and educate our staff on how to prevent similar problems from arising in the future. We also provide counselling to our staff whenever necessary and implement corrective action plans to address any issues that may arise.

The safety and welfare of our staff are of paramount importance to the Elynwood Services Executive Team. We have developed defined risk management plans that offer strategies for implementing safety at all levels of the business and contracts. Additionally, we have implemented an ongoing education program across the entire organization to ensure that our staff are equipped with the knowledge and skills necessary to maintain a safe and healthy work environment.

Our philosophy in relation to food is that “fresh is best”. Over the years Elynwood Services have established relationships with reputable suppliers who understand our needs and the needs of our clients. We are of the belief that food should be prepared fresh daily utilising foods that are in season to capitalise on optimised freshness and flavour. Our suppliers are based locally, and we purchase Australian grown/made products whenever possible.

As members of Restaurant and Catering Victoria, ASCA and Foods Services Association Australia we are members of buying groups which allows us to purchase products ranging from fresh produce, seafood, meats and poultry, wine and beverages and stationery supplies at prices which are equivalent to wholesale or better. Being a member of ASCA also provides the school with incentives based on purchases made by Elynwood Services This program has created opportunities for new equipment, incentives etc. which are passed on to our schools.

We strive to provide our customers with an uncompromising service that encompasses menu choice, quality, value for money, and friendly and knowledgeable staff.

Our commitment to quality has been an integral part of our philosophy since our inception. To ensure that we not only meet but exceed our client’s expectations, we have implemented an Integrated Management System (IMS) that includes internationally recognized standards such as ISO 9001:2008, ISO14001:2004, and ANS/NZ 4801:2001.

While effective systems are essential, we recognize that the people behind them are the driving force of our business. Therefore, our commitment is first and foremost to our people. We prioritize their well-being and provide them with opportunities for growth and development, knowing that their success is integral to the success of our systems.

To ensure that our staff is competent and capable of working in accordance with our company policies and standards, we provide them with comprehensive training. This includes our online induction program, which covers our company policies and procedures, particularly our EHS requirements. We also conduct initial site inductions that cover school policies, procedures, DET Child Safety Policy, Victorian School Canteens, and Other School Food Services Policy. Ongoing training is provided to maintain the quality of our services, ensure compliance with regulations, and constantly review and improve our services.

In addition, we believe in the “fresh is best” approach. Fresh ingredients and produce are utilised at all our sites. Fruit and vegetables that are in season will be utilised to create dishes that are appropriate and befitting of the season. Wherever possible, processed and pre-packaged foods will be avoided.
